My gaming name is Squirrelly, and I have been gaming for almost 20 years. My first PC game was Battlefield 1942 and all Battlefield series. This is where I met some extraordinary gamers who taught me how to be an effective team player. Along the way, we became long-life friends and built a community based on trust and respect. Currently, New World is my new addiction. As a first-time MMO gamer, I have enjoyed this gaming style and will continue to do my best to learn from all those in Eupana, from all factions.
I work in healthcare, so naturally, I would like to share the importance of video games. Studies have shown that the role of video games and technology has improved mental health and well-being. Gaming has a positive effect, positive functioning, and positive social functioning component while supporting mental health and well-being.
I hope you will consider joining our GP family! 😘 If not, join our community, and let's support each other. Thank you for reading my introduction; please tell me a bit about yourself.
P.S. As a friendly reminder, please be kind and respectful to others. Expectations are to be followed as this is a zero-tolerance platform.
I have had the pleasure of finding these folks in New World. They are great and I feel lucky to have been invited into their company. It is interesting to read their profiles as this is generally hidden in games. For myself I am 79 yrs old as of 6/4/2022. I graduated from the Colo. School of Mines in Golden, Co in 1969 with a degree in Engineer of Chemistry. I went to the University of CO School of Medicine and received an MD in May 1973. I went into the Navy and did a 5 year residency in urology at the Navy Regional Medical Center in San Diego, CA. Left the Navy after 12yrs for private practice. Retired in 2020 after 46 yrs. Played video games for many years starting with pong on an apple mac. Many single player game since until my first MMO (ESO) about 6 yrs ago. I built my own gaming computer 3 yrs ago based on the 2080ti. Now playing New World in Neon's company. Good gaming to all.
My gaming name is Neon, and I have been gaming for too long! I started with games like xwing vs tie fighter/sim ant back in the DOS days. Gaming played a very large role in my career choice of becoming a software developer. Officially I am a principal software engineer working on emergency systems. I work every day to try and keep people safe and save lives. After a too long career working with the DOD doing the opposite, I thought it was time to help the world :) If you were ever curious why I chose Neon for a tag I'll fill you in. When I was a kid we bought a Nintendo 64 after my family and I spent a week rolling pennies into wrappers (we were told if we did this we could buy one). Our first game was clearly Mario followed closely by the much beloved Zelda Ocarina of Time. Among the large list of games we played was one called Extreme G. The game is a simple racing game with bikes, the twist is you have weapons just like in Mario Cart (a game we also played too much). Anyway I digress, in Extreme G there was a bike you could unlock with a code, but to get the code you had to do perfect in a series of races (always coming in first) in a lesser bike - I still remember the code 61ggb5; this bike was called the Neon. To me, this embodies why we play games. The desire to succeed that leads you to fail forward and be better while reaching toward that one goal. The Neon was the culmination of all this effort in my youth, proof that I could do anything I set my mind to if I just worked hard enough and stayed diligent. Today I still do my best to remember these lessons, but I put that effort into new things - this community of all you Good People for example! I'd love to hear more about who YOU are and what it is about games that you love :)
